Portable Precision Metrological
Equipment The T2710 represents the ideal solution for periodic verification and field calibration of leak testing equipment and flow measurement instruments. Equipped with measurement electronics, digital display and data recording capabilities. This feature makes it particularly versatile: in addition to serving as a reference standard to validate other instruments, it can be used as a standalone meter to quantify actual leaks on components, verify the effectiveness of masking systems, check calibrated nozzles, and demonstrate compliance with regulatory specifications. The portable design and battery power allow verification to be performed directly on the production line, without the need to move instruments to the laboratory.
High-precision mass measurement technology
The heart of the T2710 consists of a thermal mass flow sensor, a technology that offers significant advantages over traditional volumetric methods. Mass measurement is independent of pressure and temperature variations, and provides values referenced to standard conditions of 0°C and 1013.25 mbar, eliminating the need for corrections or normalizations. The sensor responds quickly to flow variations, enabling dynamic measurements and facilitating fine adjustment of the micrometric valve to simulate specific leaks. The high-resolution acquisition system with 1 million AD points, provided as standard, ensures extremely accurate signal digitization, preserving all measurement details even at the lowest range values.
Two configurations for different application requirements
The T2710 is available in two versions optimized for different measurement ranges. The 0-30 cc/min model is dedicated to ultra-critical applications requiring maximum sensitivity on micro flows, with 0.01 cc/min resolution and 0.5% accuracy of reading plus 0.07% of full scale. This model is ideal for verifying equipment that tests small components or those with very stringent leak specifications, such as medical devices, precision valves or hermetic electronic components. The 0-200 cc/min model covers a wider range while maintaining excellent accuracy of 0.5% plus 0.1% of full scale, with 0.1 cc/min resolution, and is suitable for most industrial applications in automotive, hydraulic and pneumatic fields.
Robust and functional design
The T2710 is manufactured with an anodized aluminum housing that ensures lightness, mechanical resistance and protection from impacts and stresses typical of the industrial environment. The shockproof plexiglass front panel protects the display while keeping it perfectly readable, and resists scratches and abrasions that may occur during daily use. The compact dimensions of 180x80x35 mm and the contained weight of only 700 grams make the equipment extremely manageable and easy to transport. It can be conveniently stored in a work bag or toolbox, always ready for use when needed. The robust construction ensures reliability even in demanding operating conditions.
Operating autonomy and energy management
One of the distinctive features of the T2710 is the integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which provides exceptional autonomy allowing numerous consecutive measurements to be performed without the need for recharging. This characteristic is fundamental for mobile use in production departments, where access to electrical outlets is often unavailable or inconvenient. Lithium-ion technology also offers the advantage of not suffering from memory effect, maintaining nominal capacity even after hundreds of charge cycles. The charging system is simple and fast, and indicators on the display inform the user about battery status, allowing charge planning without the risk of running out of power during critical operations.
Connectivity and Data Management
The T2710 is equipped with a USB slave connector that allows connection to a computer for downloading and managing recorded measurements. This functionality is essential for documentation and traceability required by certified quality systems: verification data can be transferred to PC, stored in databases, processed statistically, and included in calibration reports or process validation files. The ForTest communication protocol is compatible with management software and spreadsheets, facilitating integration into corporate document workflows. The 128×64 pixel display, while not being color like more recent models, offers excellent readability even in difficult lighting conditions and clearly displays flow and temperature values.
Use with micrometric valve
The T2710 is supplied complete with micrometric valve, an essential component for its function as a leak simulator. The micrometric valve is a precision device that allows fine adjustment of the air flow passing through it, simulating leaks of variable magnitude. By connecting the T2710 in series with the valve to a pressurized system, the operator can gradually open the valve until the equipment indicates the desired leak value. At this point, the system exactly simulates the target leak, and can be used to verify that the equipment to be validated correctly detects that value. Both standard and precision micrometric valves are available, the latter characterized by finer adjustment and greater stability in maintaining the set position.
Applications for Equipment Verification
The main application of the T2710 is calibration control of leak testing and flow testing equipment, both those manufactured by ForTest and by other manufacturers. The typical procedure involves connecting the T2710 output to the equipment to be verified, generating a known leak through the micrometric valve, and comparing the value measured by the T2710 (reference) with that indicated by the equipment under verification. This operation allows detection of any calibration drift, sensor defects, or electronic malfunctions. Verifications can be performed at multiple points of the measurement range to fully characterize the equipment linearity. Results are documented and used to decide whether the equipment requires recalibration, repairs, or can continue to operate.
Leak detection and troubleshooting
The T2710 can be effectively used to quantify actual leaks on components or systems during troubleshooting. When a component fails a leak test but you want to quantify exactly the extent of the leak to decide corrective actions, the T2710 provides a direct and certified measurement. Similarly, it can be used to verify the effectiveness of temporary masking systems used during leak testing on subassemblies of complex components: by connecting the T2710 to the masked system, it verifies that the leak through the masks is negligible compared to the required sensitivity. These problem-solving applications benefit enormously from the portability of the equipment, which can be brought directly where needed.
Regulatory Compliance and Certification
Although the T2710 is portable equipment, it maintains metrological accuracy and reliability that make it suitable for verifying compliance with technical regulations. Many industry standards specify maximum allowable leak values: the T2710 allows direct measurement of whether a component meets these limits, providing documentable objective evidence. The equipment is supplied with a calibration certificate that certifies sensor calibration and metrological traceability. It is important to perform periodic recalibrations of the T2710 itself at accredited laboratories (typically annually) to maintain valid certification and ensure that measurements performed are always reliable and recognized also in audit and quality certification contexts.
